Flight Departures at Riga Airport

Riga International Airport (RIX) is located approximately 10 km from the city centre. This page contains some information about transfer to the airport as well as some useful information once you are in place there.

Transfers to Riga International Airport

Personal Car

Short-term parking for dropping off a traveler is available at the short-term parking lot located opposite the terminal. The first 10 minutes are free of charge, charges then apply on the next 20 minute, followed by every 30 minutes.

Long-term parking is available a short walking distance from the airport and there is free transfer between the parking lot and the terminal, both directions, between the hours of 08:00 and 00:00. Fees are per calendar day.

Rental Car

Please follow the instructions given to you by your chosen rental car company at Riga Airport when returning your rental vehicle. The rental car desks are located on the first floor in the public areas of Arrivals C and E.

Taxi

Taxis and hotel airport shuttles will drop the passenger off either at the entrance or on the short-term parking lot opposite the terminal building.

Bus

The public transportation airport bus stop is located 300 m from the terminal entrance, there are signs to follow leading you to the terminal entrance.

The Terminal

The terminal building is divided into 3 levels with public (land side) areas available on all levels. The air side areas are divided into Schengen and non-Schengen areas.

Check-in, Security Control and Fast Track

The check-in desks are located on level 2 and that is also where you find the security controls and the fast track.

Anyone with a boarding pass can purchase a ticket for the fast track option for a speedier transition through the security control. The tickets are sold at the Visitor Centre located in Arrivals E’s public area. Children under the age of 12 may go through the fast track free of charge if they travel with someone with a ticket.

Shops and Food

There are a few different coffee places and restaurants located in the public areas of the terminal and a number of options where you can eat something smaller while waiting to board your flight once through the security control.

There are also a few shops in the public area, and there is a wide variety of different shops to choose from on the air side, including duty free, jewelry, perfume or fashion.

Prayer Room

Riga Airport’s prayer room is designed as a very simple, modern and peaceful place. The location of the prayer room is on the third level of the airport terminal and it is open 24/7. You can come here to find peace, for spiritual recreation or just to rest. The prayer room is located in the public area.

ATMs and Currency Exchange

ATMs can be found in the public area on level 2 opposite the check-in desks.

Currency exchange offices are found in the public areas of the first two floors.

Smoking at Riga International Airport

Before the security control smoking is permitted in designated areas outside of the terminal.

After the security control smoking is allowed on the terrace next to the main café just past security.

Disability Assistance at Riga International Airport

It is advised to book assistance through your airline or travel agency at least 48 hours ahead of your flight departure. In the case you have not done so it is still possible to book it, but the service cannot be guaranteed to be delivered at the time of your arrival at the airport and you might have to wait for your assistance for up to 45 minutes.

Riga Airport Lounges

The Riga Airport Business Lounge is found on the third floor of the terminal building and it is available to all Schengen passengers. In case a passenger is not travelling business class or has a loyalty card, a fee of 40 EUR is charged for a 3 hour stay.

The lounge offers comfortable seats, various refreshments and foods, a separate children’s room, a cosy nursery and private suites (at an additional cost) and a shower with towels and other shower accessories at the traveler’s disposal.

WiFi at Riga International Airport

Free WiFi is available throughout the terminal. Connect to the network called “RIX-Free – WiFi”, open your browser and after a short ad you will be able to enter the website you wish to visit. There is no time limit on the usage of the WiFi.
